My quiet landscapes reflect my response to a place I love or memory, an idea or dream. At the moment, I paint in oil and cold wax; layering colours, removing and scraping to create the depth and textures I need. Working from sketches and notes I play with colour until I get the palette I want. I sometimes use photography as colour references but generally rely on my memory. I enjoy working ‘en plain air’ when time and place allow.

This year I have created a body of work expressing my concerns about the effects of climate change on people and places. These pieces include my life drawings – real people – as visions on the news are of unknown folk. I collage drawings, paper pieces and then use other media with marks to describe the emotions and thoughts I have. Sometimes the viewer haas to look carefully to see – damage to us and our world is often creeping, malicious, quiet and difficult to pinpoint.
